Pakukore: Poverty, by Design – Addressing the systemic causes of poverty and options for change

This conference will be the first to analyse the interconnected web of economic, governmental, legal and institutional systems that have locked poverty in.

The conference includes the session, ‘The Economics of Poverty’, Friday 22 November11.30am-12.30pm, in which Lisa Marriott and Max Rashbrooke will discuss the true state of the government’s finances, and options for providing the resources needed to sharply reduce poverty rates.

Chaired by Jonathan Boston, the session features Prof Lisa Marriott, Professor of Taxation, Te Herenga Waka VUW, and Extraordinary Professor at the University of Pretoria, South Africa; and Max Rashbrooke, Adjunct Senior Research Fellow Te Herenga Waka VUW and author.
